In this post we’ll configure Microsoft Store for Business and add some store apps (offline and online) to the inventory.

Then, we’ll integrate it with Microsoft Intune and deploy the apps from Intune.

Existing setup done:

  1. Two Local users created
  2. Azure AD Connect configured
  3. Seamless Single Sign-On (IE) configured
  4. Seamless Single Sign-On (Firefox) configured
  5. Hybrid Azure AD Join configured
  6. Intune enrollment – Domain Joined Windows 10 devices
  7. Azure AD Join
  8. Office 365 Pro Plus Application
  9. Sample SharePoint Team Site
  10. OneDrive Known Folder Migration and SharePoint library sync
  11. Copy necessary files (Win32 App)
  12. Set Desktop Background, Lock Screen and Screensaver
  13. Adding applications to StartUp folder
  14. Adding some 3rd Party applications (Browsers)

Existing setup:

  1. SkyDC: Machine with ADDS, DNS, DHCP role
  2. SkyCON: Machine where we will install Azure AD Connect
  3. SkyCM: Machine with Configuration Manager Current Branch
  4. SkyTEN1: Domain Joined Windows 10 machine
  5. SkyTEN2: Domain Joined Windows 10 machine
  6. SkyTEN3i: Domain Joined Windows 10 machine (Intune Managed)
  7. SkyTEN4i: Domain Joined Windows 10 machine (Intune Managed)
  8. SkyTEN5i: Azure AD Joined Windows 10 (Intune Managed)
  9. SkyTEN6i: Azure AD Joined Windows 10 (Intune Managed)
  10. SkyTEN7i: Azure AD Joined Windows 10 (Cloud User, Intune Managed)

Configure Microsoft Store for Business.

Navigate to https://businessstore.microsoft.com

Enter your Global Admin ID and click Next.

Enter password and click Sign in.

Click on Manage.

Check the consent and click on Accept.

Click on Settings.

Scroll down to Shopping experience and toggle the Show offline apps switch to on.

Add one sample App (online version)

Here we’ll add a Text Editor in the inventory.

Search for Text Editor in search box.

Click on an application. I clicked on WordPad TextNote.

Check the System requirements. If it is as per your device then click on Get the app.

Accept the agreement.

The application is added to inventory. Click Close to close the window.

Add Company Portal App (offline version).

Search for Company Portal in search box.

Click on Company Portal.

In License type, select Offline and click on Get the app.

The Company Portal app is added to inventory. Click Close to close the window.

Link Microsoft Store for Business and Intune

Open Azure portal.

Navigate to Intune -> Client apps -> Microsoft Store for Business. The status is Not set up.

Toggle the slider to Enable in order to enable the Intune – Microsoft Store for Business integration and click Save.

Click Open the Business store link.

In the Microsoft Store for Business window, click Manage.

Navigate to Settings -> Distribute.

Click Activate against Microsoft Intune.

You can close the Microsoft Store for Business window.

In Azure portal, again navigate to Intune -> Client apps -> Microsoft Store for Business.

You can see that the status is Active. Click on Sync.

After some time, you’ll see that the Last sync is updated.

Click on Apps and you’ll notice apps from Microsoft Store for Business.

Deploy Company Portal App

Click on Company Portal (Offline) app.

Navigate to Assignments and click on Add Group.

Follow the wizard, add appropriate group and click Save.

I added SkyGroup4 which was created in the last post with below configuration:

Assignment Type: Required

License Type: Device.

Deploy WordPad TextNote (Online) app

Click on WordPad TextNote (Online) app

Navigate to Assignments and click on Add Group.

Follow the wizard, add appropriate group and click Save.

Testing in client machine:

Sync the policy in client machine.

After some time, you’ll see WordPad TextNote. It is not installed at the moment.

To install it, click on the WordPad TextNote app.

It will open Microsoft Store app and then WordPad TextNote will get downloaded and installed.

In few minutes, you’ll also see that Company Portal app is also installed.
